Hadley's Baby Shower!

We are so thankful to have such wonderful family members and friends that helped celebrate our baby girl! A little over a week ago I had two baby showers...yes, in the same weekend! I had one that was hosted by J's sister and aunt on Saturday. Then on Sunday I had one hosted by my aunt, sister, and cousin. They were both beautiful showers! I really could not have asked for anything more and are so thankful for both.

Last month I posted this inspiration board based on my baby shower invitations (for Sunday's shower) and today I want to share some of the great photos with you.
{I will be posting about Saturday's shower as soon as I get the pictures!}

or you can find them on my pinterest baby shower page

Sunday's shower was held at the beautiful Heritage Golf Club. We had our wedding reception here so it was so special to have our baby shower here as well!

To start off, my mom ordered these beautiful invitations from Tiny Prints. They were simple and elegant. She also ordered these stickers. I was kind of confused how it would tie in together but they did! The stickers were used as "thank yous" on the favors. Every guest left with a bottle of Bath and Body Works Hand Sanitizer. Such a great idea. You can see them wrapped on the table in the images below.

Invitation and Welcome sign.

The shower revolved around the Tiny Prints invitation and stickers. Pink, yellow, and orange colors along with damask were used throughout the room which was pulled from the invitation. The buggy and colors on the sticker were tied into the cake.

When you walked into the room you could see pops of pink and yellow

Yellow flowers with yellow damask around the vase

Pink flower with pink damask around the face

The yummy dessert table with petit fours, Cheryl's flower cookies (in apothecary jars), and cake.

Delicious cake from Crumbz Cakery. Love the buggy on top which was perfect with the stickers.

We also sipped on delicious pink lemonade

And had a wonderful lunch of veggies, salad, mini chicken salad & egg salad sandwiches, and homemade potato chips. The food was outstanding.

I didn't know that my favorite part of the shower would happen after the shower was over. Tiny Prints has new games especially made for baby showers. They are amazing! You can find my original post on the games here. I chose the Hopes game and we called it "Hopes for Hadley". These cards are my favorite because they are such a keepsake and something so close to my heart. I came home after the shower and read each one with lots of tears! I cannot wait for Hadley to read them one day. These Tiny Print shower games are a must for all new moms!

This was from my sister! She cracks me up and is so excited to be an aunt.

Not only am I thankful for this beautiful shower and everyone who came but I'm thankful for Tiny Prints and how they inspired this shower. Everything came together so beautifully and it was perfect for our sweet girl.

Five On Friday!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

{one}

I scheduled a mani/pedi/eyebrow wax for today. I'm am SO excited about this. Perfect timing for baby showers this weekend. My eyebrows are a mess and I refused to touch them this week. Poor girl who has to  wax them!

{two}

We have two showers this weekend. One on Saturday and one on Sunday. Lots of recaps for you next week! We feel incredibly thankful and blessed to have such a caring family to host these showers for us. We also feel so lucky to have so many friends and family members who already love Miss Hadley!

I bought six ears of corn for just me. J hates corn but I' so excited to try out the first batch of the season!

Never boil corn again! Want to know the easiest way to cook corn on the cob? Throw it in the oven at 350° for 25-30 minutes. That’s it. Leave the husk on, it will trap in the moisture, leaving you with juicy, tender corn. The husk and silk will peel away easily once it’s cooked. Cut off the large end and it slides right out with no silk.

I was a cooking machine this week. Be sure to check out my Menu Monday this coming Monday. Remember I am now adding a freezer meal of the week to each MM post.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm so thankful to be having a great pregnancy so far. I pray every day it continues and I have an equally great labor and delivery experience. I think healthy eating and positive thoughts have really helped. Yes, I eat crap sometimes and yes I complain, but overall I want it to be a positive experience.

Bumpdate: 33 weeks

Getting bigger...eeek!

How big is baby? The size of a durain...a what? My baby center ap says a pineapple. I like that better.

Maternity Clothes: Yep...although I have a few regular dresses and tops that fit.

Stretch Marks: A few small ones on my sides.

Sleep: Getting better. Still on the couch. I think my mattress is just too hard. I'm getting really tired of the couch but every time I try and lay on the bed I'm in pain within a few hours. It would be so nice to be upstairs though. Walking up the steps at 4:30 am to go to the bathroom is not cool (we don't have a bath downstairs).

Best moment of the week? Seeing everything get ready for our baby showers! Tomorrow I have a mani/pedi scheduled and I'm over the moon!! I've already had two pedicures this summer but I will take all I can get!

Movement: Still kicks and jabs but quiet around anyone other than J and I.

Food cravings: Starbucks Chocolate Chip Frappe....and I've only had one. I tried to make one at home but it was not the same.

Food aversions: Not too much. Still somewhat hard to eat in general. I just let J pick most of the time.

Belly button in or out? In...stay in baby!!

What I miss: I've been really thinking about my pregnancy overall and feel so lucky to not have had any complications. I pray every day that it continues through labor and birth. I really can't say I miss anything (than sleeping on my stomach). Do I like or enjoy all the aches and pains? No. But what can I expect? There is another human inside of me. I'm going to have some pains sometimes. I have 7 more weeks and in 5 weeks I go back to school (well, probably 3.5 or 4 to prepare). I'm going to get through it with my head held high. If I have a negative attitude then I will be miserable. I hate when people tell me, "there's no way you'll make it through two weeks of school". Watch me. As long as baby girl and I are healthy I will hang in there as long as I can.

What I'm looking forward to: Baby showers this weekend!

Milestones:  33 weeks! Nothing too big other than timing. I can't believe I only have 7 weeks left! That's less than two months people!

Nursery: New carpet and paint next week! Finally!

Classes: Baby care class and tour in August!

Next appointment: July 23. My doc is out of town the week I' supposed to go so it was moved back...no biggie!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: I'm really nervous about my showers. Don't get my wrong--I'm super excited. But I hate when all the attention is on me. Someone told me, "it won't be on you--it will be on the baby". Uh, that would be me for now! I don't see her popping out anytime within the next two days (hopefully). How do I deal with 40+ people being around me at a shower all wanting to touch me? I really have a hard time handling all the touching...or just one person in general (except J). I don't want to be rude but personal space! Do you want me touching your stomach? Probably not. At least Hadley and I have a deal...if she hears lots of voices she can not move. haha!

Five on Friday

Today I decided to participate in Five on Friday! What a fun way to wrap up the week :)

{one}
How is it Friday already? This week flew by and with the holiday being on a Thursday it totally messed up my schedule--even though I'm on summer break and don't really have one per-say.

{two}
July 4th was filled with family and friends. And guess how many pictures I took? One. Total fail. I think I was just so busy talking to people and enjoying our time that I didn't even think about it until everything was said and done. It also rained a lot so that didn't make things as fun to capture.

J took today off and it's been so nice to just relax and spend time together. We went to the library and even stopped at a yummy food truck for lunch! He's doing some extra work for the next four weeks and will be away from home a lot more. I'm sad that I have to spend even more time alone but it will be great to get some extras for Hadley and the house.

This was my meal. We said we were going to split the fries. I half a whole meal left over...with fries...and so does J!

 Our baby showers are a week from tomorrow and Sunday. Eeeek!

Surprise baby shower!

Every month or so I get together for dinner with a few ladies that live in Columbus. It's so nice to meet up with a group of girls you don't get to see very often. It's also fun because most of these girls also have a blog. Different people come to dinner each time we get together but there are about 8 to 10 of us who are there on a regular basis. These ladies are more than just Columbus bloggers; they have become great friends.

A few weeks ago we had planned to go to dinner at Fletcher's house and try out her new deck. Little did Jenny, Shannon, and I know that this dinner turned out to be a surprise baby shower!

Note: I never wear my hair up for pictures. It always looks like I don't have any hair. I was super hot that day, didn't think I'd be in a lot of pictures, so I wore it up. Bad decision. I look like a hot mess!

We each got to take home blocks and books!

Seriously, these girls are too cute!!

Delicious sandwiches!

Drinks for everyone!

Cookie table--yumm

 These girls are not only the sweetest and they constantly make you laugh (and a few are already moms with great advice)! I'm so thankful to have such a great group of girls in my life!

Baby Shower Games

I'm not big into shower games--bridal shower or baby shower. I already have a hard enough time with everyone watching me. Call me a party pooper if you must but I can't handle a lot of them.

Even though I'm not a fan of games, I understand the importance of them. We all go to showers to celebrate the bride-to-be or mother-to-be. Games get us talking to people we may not know. Sometimes they even share embarrassing stories--okay those are always fun!

Recently I was told about this new baby shower games from Tiny Prints. Hands down I love them. Want to know why? They're not your typical game. They don't have a winner. There is no touching the baby belly. They give words of wisdom and hopes for your sweet baby. They still allow you to chat with others around you but also give you time to give a truly heartfelt message.

I recently ordered this game from TinyPrints.com to use for my shower. Another wonderful part of Tiny Prints is that you can personalize everything! That might be one of my favorite parts. :) I wanted these cards to be a keepsake that I can put into Hadley's baby book.

These games are become much more than a win-or-loose game. They're becoming a wonderful memory.

Tiny Prints has thought of it all when it comes to their new games. They have made is so easy for you to pick out your favorite invitations and then find matching games. LOVE!! These are two of the many matching options for you to choose from.

I'm so excited to read all of the Hopes for Hadley our family and friends are going to write to her at my upcoming shower. They will be so wonderful to share with her as she grows!

Tiny Prints Baby Shower Inspirations!

June is quickly coming to an end meaning July is right around the corner. As a teacher, July means the middle of the summer and this summer it means closer to Hadley's arrival (eeeek!). But it also means baby showers! My wonderful coworkers at school threw me a baby shower in May. I'm so excited so have two upcoming baby showers in July. I have one in J's hometown and one in my hometown.

I don't know a lot about either shower but I do know they are going to be adorable. Recently I received an invitation to my hometown shower from Tiny Prints. I loved how soft and pretty the invitation looked. The two shades of pink make it easy to match to many colors and the damask print is simple yet elegant. There are so many different ways you can work with these invitations!

Photo source: Invitation; lemonade; nail polish; cookies; shower game; R initial; flowers
or you can find them on my pinterest baby shower page

Now, I don't know what my aunt and sister have up their sleeves for my shower, but how pretty are these pictures? I love adding little pops of color here and there, like the green in the flowers. The burlap makes a nice contrast and gives your tablescape or wall hangings some texture. And the nail polish? What an adorable take home gift!

Not only do I love my Damask Hint: Chenille invitation but I also found these other fun baby shower invites on tinyprints.com.
