Five on Friday

One

To say we've been busy is an understatement. Your sad part is we are not even that exciting. I have played bunco twice in the past few weeks. Watch out! Party animal!

Two

I actually have things I need to post. I better get busy!

Three

We've had showings on our house every weekend for the past six weeks. One offer but no sell. Let's go people!! Buy out house!

Four

Spring break starts at 3:15 today.   The kids need it more than I do. No lie. They're crazy!

Five.

I'm now a jamberry nails consultant! Love love love them!!  Click on my button on the top right to see more!

Five on Friday

{one}

I'm a slacker. I really hate that I haven't been blogging much but it's been so hard to find the time. I'm not going to make any goals for myself as to how often I want to blog. I just want to make sure I keep up with posting about our life--since that is why I blog.

{two}

Hadley turned five months on the 26th! Where has the time gone?! I blogged about it last night. She has quite the personality!

{three}

Last week I updated you with some things going on in our crazy lives. I had a little visit to the surgeon and found out that I will indeed need surgery. Oh joy. Thankfully I can wait until summer, unless the problem gets worse. I pray every day it doesn't because I really cannot take anymore time off from school.

{four}

Like everyone else in the country, we've had some crazy weather. This week we were off two days from school due to the windchill being -20 and below. BRRR!!! I am ready for spring!

{five}

A few months ago I won a copy of the new Pioneer Woman Cookbook. I was beyond ecstatic because she is my cooking idol. I recently received it in the mail and it was autographed. I might have jumped up and down...

Five on Friday!

{one}

Today I'm celebrating five years of marriage with this guy. It's been a crazy five years full of amazing times and crazy times, but I have to say that this year has been the best. I've loved watching Josh become such a loving daddy to Miss Hadley. Best way to spend five years together.

{two}

The first week back to school is an exhausting one! I might know every day we have off from now until May. I also may know that there are 86 school days left per the countdown in the cafeteria. So excited to spend the summer with my girl!

{three}

This year I decided to order a May Designs Planner. I've used Erin Condren in the past, which I love, but they're so big and bulky, not to mention pricey. I can't do that right now with everything that comes with a baby. So, I decided to give May Books a whirl. I love it so far! They're very affordable (no more than you would pay for a nice one at Target), super light weight, smaller, thinner, and still give you plenty of room to write in it. My favorite part? You can pick out your own design and monogram it!

{four}

My parents got Hadley this book for Christmas. It's the cutest thing ever! We read it every night. I cannot wait until she actually understands it!

{five}

Who says science isn't fun? This is a picture from a laser light show the kids had at school today. It was pretty neat! There were just in awe at what lasers could do. I even learned a lot too (I don't teach science)!

Five on Friday

{one}

On Monday, Hadley turned 12 weeks old. 12 weeks! Time has just flown by. I'm so sad to know that next week is my last week off with her. The past 13 weeks have been absolutely amazing and I've enjoyed every minute--even when we were both crying. I don't want to leave her and would do anything to stay home with her. I'd love to work at home but that's not really an option with my degree. But she will be going to a good friend who is amazing and has wonderful kids, so I know she will be happy and safe. That is the most important.

{two}

Jenny and her daughter Lucy came over to "play" on Monday. It was so nice to talk to another new mom about how both girls are doing. It's also crazy to see how different they are a month apart. I sometimes feel like I don't see a lot of change in H because I see her everyday. But when I saw Lucy it made me remember when H couldn't quite do the things she's doing now. It's crazy and wonderful at the same time. I love watching her grow!

{three}

Sorry, another one about Miss Hadley. Last week we took her to see Santa. I definitely have respect for the bird but I hate lines. We went on a Friday morning and nobody was there. We walked right up got our picture and left! It was great! I was really hoping for a smile picture or a total meltdown picture (because those crack me up) but she was just chillin. She kept looking at all of us (me, Josh, and the three elves) like we were crazy trying to get her to laugh.

{four}

I made this delicious crockpot chicken tortilla soup. It was so good. I'm really happy that we have extra to freeze. It will definitely come in handle on those cold winter evenings!

{five}

Christmas pictures are tomorrow! I'm so excited!! I spent way to long thinking about what we would all wear, but I'm liking it and hoping it works out. I ordered H a few bows from one of my favorite "bowtiques", Diva Baby Bowtique. I love their hair puffs!

Happy Friday!

Five on Friday

{one}

I stopped at Old Navy on Monday to see what I could find for our upcoming family pictures. They had great sales going on. I purchased two long sleeved t-shirts, $6 each and two long sleeved knitted shirts for $8. I plan to wear one of the knitted shirts with a vest for our Christmas pictures. I seriously could have bought a ton more but had to hold myself back. They have really cute things right now and since I'm not pregnant anymore, I feel like a normal person again!

                         {two}

Hadley and I went to visit Josh at work on Tuesday and to have lunch with his wonderful adviser. On the way back to his office, we took H's picture in front of the library. Not the best since we was sleeping but J was pretty happy she had her first picture taken on campus!

{three}

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were lazy days. It was so nice to catch up on house cleaning and work on our nap schedule. Now if I could nap we would be all set!

{four}

I'm hoping to bring back Menu Monday. Although Sundays are usually pretty busy so it might change to Tasty Tuesday. Either way, I have some great recipes to share with you!

{five}

Naps never last longer than an hour with Miss H. I have no idea how to get her to sleep longer, unless we are in the car or out and about. She sleeps the same way at nap time as she does at night. She still will wake up after one hour. Any way to get her to sleep longer?

Five on Friday!

{one}

 Hadley turned eight weeks old on Monday. Crazy times!! Tomorrow she turns two months (because it's the 26th). I'm sad that the newborn stage is slowly ending but we love watching her grow and experience new things. I'm so excited for her to have Christmas this year but at the same time, it will be much more fun next year when she gets it. I know four months will be different than two but she still won't understand what is going on. I really want to get pictures with Santa this year but J thinks she's too young. What age do you think Santa pictures should start? I've totally seen babies with Santa!

{two}

It snowed this week. SNOW! In October!! This rarely happens. In fact I only remember it snowing once before my birthday and that is when I lived two hours north of Columbus while in college. I'm totally not ready for snow. And I'm pretty sure my flowers are officially dead.

We busted out this little Halloween onesie that one of my sweet piano students gave H. It definitely kept her warm, but girl is a little toaster so by the time we got home from running a few errands she was sweating! It's just too cute though!

{three}

Speaking of my birthday (see above), I turned 29 yesterday. Scary!! We had a very low key day but I was so thankful to spend it at home with this girl. I told Josh not to get me anything this year since I'm taking a (unpaid) leave of absence at work until December to be home with our girl. That is present enough! He did bring me home some beautiful flowers though. Also, my crockpot is now longer heating up. SAD DAY! It's only two years old. Anyone experience this before?

{four}

I definitely wanted to get out of the house on my birthday so we headed over to Target. I decided I would treat myself to a Salted Caramel Mocha at the Starbucks. To my surprise, I got my drink for free because they were out of salt! Happy birthday to me!

While we were there I wanted to look at flat irons. I've probably had mine since 2004. No lie. And before that my sister used it for about a year. It's OLD. I don't use a straighten every day so I don't want an expensive one. I usually have great luck with Conair products and found this one. Does anyone use this Infiniti Pro straightener? How do you like it?

{five}

My parents came over for a birthday dinner last night. We were going to go out but by the time they got off work it would have been too late. I made Pioneer Woman Lasagna over the summer, so I decided to have that with salad and garlic bread. OH MY GOSH. You have to make this lasagna. It is SO good and it freezes so easily!

To end the night, H and I were both in tears. She has been on a pretty strict sleep schedule lately. She gets a bath around 530, eats, and goes to sleep. Well, last night she fell asleep while my mom was holding her around 6:30. Pretty typical. Stupid me told my mom to put her in her bouncy seat while we ate. Bad decision. She woke up 30 minutes later in a fit, which continued until about 9:30 pm. She finally fell asleep around 10 pm. Thankfully, for the both of us, she slept 6 hours. She ate again and then slept 3 more. When I woke her up at 9 am (she usually gets up at 8), she was in a fantastic mood and has been happy ever sense. Girlfriend needs her schedule desperately!!! We will never make that mistake again!

What would we do without video monitors? I feel so spoiled by them but I am so very thankful for them!

Five on Friday: First time mom

I've decided to devote this Five on Friday to being a first time mom because I learn something(s) every single day.

{one}

TIME! I have zero time. My cousin came over today and I finally finished unpacking my hospital bag (gasp!) and put my laundry away that has been piling up. I do get small things done during the day but it all depends on Hadley's mood. Sometimes I get 20 minutes; sometimes an hour or two. I will never take my time for granite again.

{two}

Hadley turned five weeks on Monday. I still haven't done her one month post. Note number one above and time. I'm quickly typing this while she is sleeping in her swing. I also was able to unload the dishwasher. Score!!

{three}

I've decided that if I tell too many people about one thing it will bite me in the behind. For example, so far H has been a really calm baby. She fusses sometimes but never had any meltdowns. That chapter has ended. On Tuesday night she screamed (very loudly) for two hours. She chilled out for about 20 minutes, to watch the colors on Dancing with the Stars, then started screaming again. Wednesday night was a little better but there was still some screaming. I will never talk about her being a calm, mellow child because I don't want to jinx it. No matter what she's still a wonderful baby and we are very thankful for her and her health.

{four}

It's amazing how the days fly by but the weeks are so slow. I'll never figure this out. But I'm enjoying every minute with my sweet girl.

{five}

Hadley has started to smile for us. She's the happiest in the mornings. It's the sweetest thing! I took her five week picture and she looks so silly. This isn't her normal smile but it just cracks me up!

Five on Friday!

{one}

Every day this week I have told myself I was going to sit down and blog. That has yet to happen. I can't believe how fast time goes with a little one. My days fly by! I try to get something big accomplished every day but that doesn't always happen. It still amazes me. I love blogging and love that one day all of what we do/did will be documented (for the most part). So I must get busy again!

{two}

Earlier this week I went and visited Ricart for a blogging event. I can't wait to share photos and information with you later this week! It was a great experience and I got to hang out with Shannon and Fletcher!

{three}

This weather has been crazy! I've loved the cool, fall days but then it turns around and is 80* out. No thank you!! I'm ready for jeans (that I can almost fit in to) and sweatshirts.

{four}

This weekend J and I plan to make our own headboard. Pray for us! I have no idea how this is going to turn out. I just hope we get something out of it. We need a new headboard and it's driving me crazy without having one.

{five}

Can I just say that I love that fall TV is back on!! Thursday nights are awesome with Grey's followed by Parenthood. I have a whole post idea for this alone because I am pumped!!

Five On Friday: Recipes, Halloween, & Pictures

Don't forget to link up with Five on Friday here!

{one}

Last weekend we went apple picking. I've had ever intention to make apple crisps this week but it hasn't happened yet. Josh has even asked if I wanted to go apple picking again. Let's try to eat what we have (about 30 apples). He's an apple-pickin' machine!

Doesn't this look yummy?!

{two}

If you do not have children and are planning to one day, let me tell you about a little something called, "cluster feeding". I had no idea what this was until after H was born. Basically babies will nurse for hours at one time. Not going to lie-it's exhausting, especially at night when you're already tired. But it's great bonding time too.

{three}

I love Halloween. Actually I love all things fall. But my favorite part about Halloween is dressing up. I haven't dressed up in a few years but I can't wait to dress H up as she gets older. Pinterest is busting with costume ideas. Here are a few of my favorites family costumes!

It's a Jolly Holiday! Mary Poppins Costumes Halloween 2011 - Rae Gun Ramblings

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory - Homemade costumes for kids

Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi - Homemade costumes for families
J is already hoping H will be Princess Peach one Halloween!

{four}

I still have not been behind the wheel of my car. I could have started driving this week but my dad had to borrow my car since his was getting fixed and I didn't need mine for anything. The more time that passes the more nervous I get to get behind the wheel. I'm already a nervous driver but add some time (which feels like nothing) and a newborn and I'm a mess! I'll be getting lots of practice this weekend.

{five}

On Monday our amazing photographer Kari came to take pictures of Hadley and do a few lifestyle pictures. I will definitely post more when I get them back but I have fallen in love with the ones we have so far!

Five on Friday

Screen Shot 2013-06-14 at 2.31.52 PM
Linking up with Darci today for 5 on Friday!

{one}

My two love bugs have been cracking me up lately. Oliver is obsessed with Wembley's cat toy. He hits it so the mouse goes in circles and then tries to get the mouse out of the holder. He carries it all around. Not the brightest bulb!

Wembley is obsessed with ribbons. If you came into my house you would easily find three or four ribbons laying around on the floor. They're all different and from different things. His latest obsession is a new purple ribbon. He's like a kid in a candy store when he gets a new one. But he still carries around all of his other special ones. Really, carries them around the house like a lovey.

{two}

Last Saturday, after our great hospital tour, we went to the Food Truck Festival. I'm not going to lie...it was hot and busy. And we even got there right when it opened at noon.

Oh! Burgers is my favorite food truck. It's owned by a guy I went to high school with, which is how I found out about it. A friend of mine and myself try to meet there when it is close by us in the summer. They always have the freshest ingredients and I love that they buy local produce. Seriously, best burgers!

We also were given FREE Chobani flip yogurt. I'm going to be honest, I've never been a big Chobani fan, but the flip Almond Coco Loco was very good.

{three}

I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday but here is Miss H in all her watermelon glory (she's really dropped too). Yes, I just wore this dress a few weeks ago. Actually I've worn it several times since then but the first time this school year! I refuse to buy any more maternity clothes so I just keep changing up accessories.

{four}

Last weekend J and I went out to dinner to Cap City Diner. It was very good (although J said his burger was kind of dry). I had been waiting for this cake all week and it was totally worth it! This looks like two slices but they have to cut it in half to fit it in the container. It was amazing and no worries, I kind of shared with J.

{five}

My two (out of three) boys. They just melt my heart!

Holy devil eyes! I tried several times and they kept glowing!

Loves!
